Work on Rancho de la Paz – 2010
A New Look for the front of the Main House

Marv & Bill are working on the porch.
Bud is the detail man.
Love that Green Trim!
Bob is concentrating.
Watch out for the rose bush thorns.
Hurray! No more rain down our necks when slipping between the houses!
Bill was a good foreman.
The guestroom wall of the Main House was painted just in time for the grapevine to sprout.
The entry to the mobile home got spruced up.
The new face for the Carusos’ house includes a planter box that was first a head board, then a bench, now we call it our head board-bench-herb garden.
The Main House (Peterson’s) was painted. The next ‘big’ project will be to finish the porch. Won’t it look great with flower boxes where the 2 x 4s are, and hefty posts? …and more?
Not only did the guys paint, they repaired, patched, caulked and replaced. They also blew insulation into the attic above the Carusos’ office and living room. (Now we’re ready for those 114 degree August days.) They installed security mesh on the fence around the entire orchard (over 400′) to keep the chickens and ducks in and the coyotes and stray dogs out. Alverna and Marlene painted both Monika’s room and the llama’s pen. Holes were dug for fence posts and trees, and other trees were cut down.
Thanks Bill, Bud, Bob & Marv!!! And to all those who contributed to the cost of materials for these projects.
The work continues with smaller projects by the family. This new lattice will hide the trash can/fire wood area. Paint is being added to the back steps.
Others have worked to bring improvements to Rancho de la Paz:
Art & Lynda Magner, volunteers with YWAM’s Mission Builders Program, brought new life to the mobile home’s kitchen as well as helping to clear it out in preparation for it’s next occupants.
George Wolfe used his electrical skills to trouble shoot problems no one else seemed able to solve.
The hen house is getting trim to match the houses.
Pete enjoys working in the orchard. We’ll soon have fresh fruit to share with our guests.
We’re still gathering peppers from last year’s garden – more than we can eat ourselves. Many seeds and seedlings are already planted for this year.
The view from Bev’s kitchen includes this young colt, born in February at our next door neighbor’s ranchero.
And this colt, in the next pen, was born in March. We’ll get to enjoy watching them grow up only yards from our window.
All around us are reminders of God’s love and goodness. We enjoy sharing these blessings with our guests: missionaries, pastors, friends, and family.
